What kind of a doctor deals with muscle spasms?

Does anyone know what kind of a doctor deals with muscle spasms? I get one in one spot on my back about every three months. They are unbearably painful and they last for 4-6 weeks during which time I have to sit in my chair with my heating pad and do nothing. I am 82 and this is not how I planned to spend my last days! I cry.

I just joined today and found this thread. This is my exact problem. I'm only in my late 50s but have been dealing with this for years. Most recently, my spasms occur every 4 months. I started PT and have been faithful with my home program. I haven't had a flair for 10 months. I thought I saw on the right track. I saw a neuromuscular physician. I find my triggers are anything overhead. I'm in a flare right now. I do heat, ice, rest, pain patches, muscle relaxers, gabapentin and Tylenol. He prescribed a steroid. Nothing helps! I'm at my wit's end. I want my quality of life back. I love to garden but that triggers a flare.

What works for me, after trying EVERY pill available, is 5 mg valium, and Tylenol 8-hour arthritis pills, and of course the heating pad.

Amen to that.
I also am at the age where to get some sleep is more
important than worrying about addiction. There are so
many other drugs we take on a regular basis.....& your
physician can always recommend a different drug when
the one you are on is not working without increasing the
dosage. Check with your GP.

I don't even know what triggers the muscle spasm in my back! This current one has been going on since the end of June, so you can imagine what my life has been like. I can't go anywhere or do anything except sit with the heating pad on my back. I've been to many doctors and pain clinics and nothing has changed. I am so sick of this!

I love to garden also, but had it all removed because of the muscle spasm in my back. I also had the privet hedge removed because I can't trim it. All that is left is the lawn and I have to pay someone to mow it.

Day 4 went okay since I have had mrsa bacterial spinal meningitis I have no veins. The nurse dislodged my IV at 12:47 and it took until 2:45 to get an IV into me. I was stuck over 10 times. She says she has been a nurse for five years but I personally wonder. No side effects a little sleepy. Panzga was released in 2021 so it’s pretty new.
