@ancopau1998 Hi Angie. What treatment are you on for the MM? I take 12mg dexamethasone once a week, since April 2023. Before that it was 20 mg once a week from Aug 2021. It is a fact that having a steroid as part of your treatment can cause or exacerbate cataract issues. That was true in my case, and reducing the dose was recommended.
When was the last time you had your eyes checked? When I went in last June, I had had an issue starting in Feb 2023 but I waited to get an appt. I had cataract surgery in July, one eye at the beginning, one eye at the end of month!

Hi Ginger, I was on Revlimid for a little over 3 years. Dr. just changed me to Thalomid because of my kidney number going down. I had my eyes checked 2 months ago and had to take them back because it was hard seeing far especially when driving. I'm going to see my Ophthalmologist next week. I did have a blood clot behind the retina 2 years ago and was getting shots in my eye 8 times that was good after the injections. I'm sure he can help me, I'm praying. Been wearing glasses for 60 years! This should make you laugh I always say I have to put on my glasses to answer the phone LOL! Oh I had cataract surgery on both eyes. Thanks for your post Ginger!!
@ancopau1998 Angie, I am also on Revlimid, since August 2021. But I already had non-mm related kidney issues so that has not been a factor, except to do a very low dose of the Revlimid.
Glaucoma runs in my family. My mother had it, and my twin brother has it. When I go back in to eye Dr this summer I am sure she will check for it again.Because she knows my medical history, she has been pretty good at monitoring everything. Remember, our systems are pretty fragile, being immune compromised, and it doesn't seem to take much to throw things off! I hope you will let us know what your opthalmologist tells you.

Hi Ginger, my kidney disease is not from MM either. I was Dx about 16 years ago with type 2 diabetes which is well controlled but I'm guessing with MM is has gotten worse. The GFR is suppose to be above 60 mine is 28, as long as it does not go below 15 then it's dialysis time and I don't know if OI could handle that. I really trust and like my Oncologist very much. He was at the Cleveland Clinic here in Ohio and works 2 days a week at the hospital I go to. I pray everyday not only for myself but all of my MM warriors too! I also have a CBC drawn every week because I'm so anemic and if the Hemoglobin is under 10 I go in for an injection. I'm tired a lot. Part of the MM! Take care!!
