Multiple Myeloma and Apricot Seeds/Vitamin B17

Posted by ChefT @cheft, Dec 1, 2023

Has anyone been consuming Apricot Seeds to reduce/slow or stop the progression and if so, what have the benefits been if any.

Here is a link to a study showing the consumption with zinc showed significant success in killing cancer cells

You have to understand FDA is a pay to play scam. Nothing about the pharmaceutical industry is natural. Natural remedies do not create trillions in profit. Chemicals will never be the cure only the maintenance.

Thank you for the information. It makes sense now.

@loribmt and @normahorn - As always people should consult with their doctor about any treatment. I did not tell nor suggest anyone take aprocot seeds, I simply asked if anyone tried it and if so was there any evidence of cancer cell reduction. A person can buy apricot seeds an just about any health food store or Amazon for consumption. It would take a massive amount of consumption at one time to pose severe health risks to the majority of the population.

People have been consuming apricot seeds for hundreds of years.

To each thier own on what weight they put on FDA approved produts for any treatment. The FDA approved and reccomended a completely non studied nor verified Covid vaccine for years and still do.

The link you posted from Medical News Today states "Can they help fight cancer?
Apricot kernels may have some health benefits, and some people have suggested that they may help fight cancer.

Scientists have proposed that a compound called amygdalin, present in apricot kernels, may be a way to eradicate tumors and prevent cancer by stopping cells from reproducing.

A laboratory study published in 2005 suggested that amygdalin might inhibitTrusted Source genes that lead to cell proliferation.

In 2012, a laboratory study found that enhancing amygdalin with β-D-glucosidase may make it usefulTrusted Source in treating liver cancer.
For everything you posed expressing negativity to the use, there are further clinical studies to show success in it's aplication.

The link from the FDA simply warns that they are stating clinical use and didn't get FDA approval. Plenty of things are beneficial to people without big pharma bought and paid for FDA approval.

Everyone needs to do their own research and decide what is best for them,

As you likely know, the FDA doesn't regulate supplements so ingesting seeds or pits from apricot, apple, and a number of other plants can include highly variable levels of cyanide. The research that you stated used a chemical present in these seeds/pits. I use about a gram/day of bioavailable curcumin for my MGUS; the levels in turmeric and absorption are too low to be of use and not enough research yet on if curcumin helps. I did see an interesting article on intermittent fasting on suppressing low-grade inflammation and on TNF (cancer cell growth); a hypothesis is that our normal cells can go slightly dormant when a bit low on glucose, but cancer cells are full FEEDME because they replicate quickly. If you are interested in cancer research, ResearchGate is another good source. Amygdalin is converted in the body to hydrogen cyanide. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0196064498700770#:~:text=Apricot%20kernels%20may%20not%20release,to%20be%202.92%20mg%2Fg. https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/biochemistry-genetics-and-molecular-biology/amygdalin#:~:text=The%20cyanogenic%20glycoside%2C%20amygdalin%2C%20is,%2C%20peaches%2C%20etc.).&text=Amygdalin%20is%20converted%20into%20hydrogen,and%20may%20induce%20cyanide%20toxicity. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9530862/#:~:text=Emerging%20evidence%20suggests%20that%20intermittent,6%20Studies%20have%20shown%20that

There are plenty of highly absorbable forms of Curcumin and in fact the advancement gets better every day.
There are also plenty of sience backed and documented trials showing success with high dosage (upwards of 8000mg a day) of Curcumin. Clinical trials to prove efficacy.

As faemr as the Apricot and other seeds. It would take very high amounts and consistently to be dangerous levels. And the fact that FDA doesn't regulate natural remedies shouldn't matter to anyone.

Reviewing as a scientist, the research papers are still a bit limited on curcuminoids regarding dosage, efficacy, side effects (GI), and stats. There is some interesting science on modifying the curcumin molecules to increase absorption, thereby decreasing the amount one would have to eat to have effects on TNF. I would prefer FDA regulation of supplements. There have been too many cases of unregulated supplements with high levels of heavy metals and other harmful ingredients. Any quack can market supplements. It took too many years for the FDA to include gluten free (20 ppm and less) within food. Having celiac disease, I have to be careful with what supplements that I take because FDA doesn't regulate gluten levels within those.

And there was the supplement that was pulled from the shelves in Europe when too many users of it needed liver transplants.

What is meant by “FDA regulation”? If the term means FDA approval no supplements will be marketed. The reason is that supplements can’t be patented, therefore, the entity that pays for the trials does not have a mechanism to recover their costs.

Not only that but the entity that pays for testing controls the narative they put forth.
Again, its all a racket.

The FDA and man made chemical company's shut down and discredit natural, plant remedies. They say, there is no proof of efficacy. Again, because nobody spends they money to get crushed by the chemical companies.
Doctors get paid to push man made chemicals. The entire medical industry is built around prolonging and maintaining illness, not curing it. Without maintenance medications and procedures the pharmaceutical company's and medical companies would crash.

There are clinical trials regarding some supplements. I explored getting in one but my cancer precluded me from it.

Native Americans chewed willow bark to relieve pain. The active ingredient is salicylic acid; in 1887 this "chemical" was widely used and later an acetyl group was added to buffer the effects on the stomach. This is where the name "Bufferin" in aspirin comes from. The heart medicine Digitalis was discovered through the Foxglove plant. The copper based blood of Horseshoe Crabs (a very ancient arthropod) is used to test for presence of certain toxins. Curcumin (from turmeric) is being researched for suppressing various cancers; because it is very poorly absorbed they are modifying it (adding a fat) to increase absorption. A lot of medical research (much of it in universities, not pharmaceutical companies) is funded by the NIH based on chemicals in plants and animals.
My brother died of pancreatic cancer at 61. Chemo wouldn't have saved him, but he never forgave God for not healing him, and he relied on fluoride-free water, stone-ground sesame seeds, and other online scams to cure his cancer. Believe all you want that supplements should be free range, but unregulated scams do have their victims.
