Mucus and Breathing

Posted by trevortedford @trevortedford, Apr 27, 2023

So I went for a jog back in august .. when I was running I was getting breathless and my chest was sore, but I ignored it and ever since my chest has been sore and I have more mucus then normal and sometimes I feel breathless .. I’ve taken lots of tests, EKG tests, chest X-rays , ECG and also Stress tests, I also did a echocardiogram and the test came back fine.. the doctors say nothing is wrong and that nothing is to be concerned .. I used to have ashtma when I was a child but now I’m 28 they tell me that I don’t have ashtma or that’s not a reason why I’m having these feelings .. it sucks because I’ve seen doctors and emergency trips for the last 8 months and nothing is fixed .. anyone have experience this ? Or?

Have you had a cat scan? I have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, with your symptoms.

I got me an Aerobika (Flutter Device) it has been the best thing to help get the mucus up and out when I am having trouble doing it. You could watch some videos on You Tube to learn more or maybe just Google it. It is the best device I have gotten to help me with this.

I presently use a Lung Flute device for airway clearance, but I will try the Aerokika device.

Anyone know where to purchase replacement Reed packs for the lung flute?

I agree. The saline really helps bring up mucus. I'd ask for it. It was a game changer for me.

You could get saline from Amazon. Or, get Rx from your dr and use Good Rx coupon at your local pharmacy. Saline via GoodRx is a lot less expensive. But, Amazon has faster delivery ( I usually get it the day after ordering).

Here are sites:
Amazon:

GoodRx.com

Best of luck to you!

I have a question for everyone, do you think mucus buildup in the airways and lungs, affects the Pulmonary Function Test numbers that we all do on a regular basis. I have asked many Dr.‘s, Respiratory Teheripists, nurses, etc this question. Some say it (the mucus) has no effect at all. Others say they believe it does. My belief is simple “ If you have an object occluding or blocking a tube or pathway then it HAS to effect the flow of whatever substance liquid or gas. Thank-you.
