MRI before biopsy, & then fusion biopsy if targets found (?)
Has anyone heard a convincing argument as to why the following statement would not be true?:
"Unless availability or cost is an issue:
An MRI should always be performed prior to any biopsy, and the only reason that a systematic biopsy alone should ever be chosen over a fusion biopsy or combined (systematic + fusion) biopsy would be if the MRI finds no targets."

@ezupcic YES! What is the PSA at this time?
@tdoriausername 6 an prostate density 0.10
@tdoriausername PSA went from 6 to 9 last year, but my father had prostate cancer and my MRI shows a "suspicious 4mm nodule" in the peripheral zone.
My horrible original urologist...I can forgive incompetence all day long, but this is just arrogance or greed or ???...wanted to do a systematic biopsy immediately without an MRI, and then got angry when I asked about a fusion biopsy.
Thankfully I found a urologist 3 hours away who does UroNav fusion biopsies, and he also does da Vinci RALP if I should need that.
@tdoriausername Oops...I got confused...I replied to a question for @ezupcic 🙂
