mixing drugs

Does anyone take adderall and depakote together or is that a no no. My son has a terrible time focusing in his job not because he is hyper, more like there is so many thoughts going on in his mind that he cannot concentrate. We have tried strattera with no luck. He needs something more effective. Going to the doctors friday to discuss further medication.
