I am 77 yrs old and was diagnosed with MGUS 2 1/2 yrs ago by a neurologist who was doing genetic testing for my neuropathy, which turned out to be Charcot-Marie-Tooth. In January of this year I was tested once again concerning my MGUS and the results came back that it is now byclonal gammopathy. July appointment with neurologist. I also have osteoporosis and for the last 3 yrs been on Prolia. It was not an easy decision and I was extremely reluctant, but was told that it was treatment or eventually a wheelchair. So far, I have not had any noticable side effects, but they may also be "masked" by the neuropathy, fibromyalghia and osteoarthritis that I live with. I am very interested in the possibility of hormone replacement therapy. It seems that there is new research being done to consider it for seniors.
