Methotrexate (Only) for MCTD: Pain Relief, Advancement, Side Effects?

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with MCTD this week, and my rhuematologist is recommending Methotrexate. Thankfully we caught it early - I've only experienced pain since February. If you've taken this one med for MCTD (without pairing it with others) I'd love to hear about your experience - to what degree did it relieve your pain; did you advance to other types of autoimmune disease while on it; and did you experience side effects? My doctor said we'll watch closely for liver effects (ongoing bloodwork), hair loss, and diarrhea. Thank you - wishing everyone good/better health in 2026! - Sarah, 53, in Midland, TX
