Meningioma just diagnosed

Posted by jdouglassgregory @jdouglassgregory, Nov 7, 2025

Hello everyone, and thank goodness for this group!

Can a meningioma cause insomnia? Mine was discovered via MRI after a three-day bout of insomnia. I literally fell asleep on feet and face-planted in the wall. May have torn a rotator cuff in the fall, but that's secondary. Recent symptoms that may or may not be associated with my rumor:

--struggle w/balance (feel both down stairs AND up stairs last week
--insomnia and resultant exaustion
--difficullty gettin' off the floor
--forgetfulness
--seeming loss of some physical strength

Thank you!

I had my first appointment yesterday with a neurosurgeon. He confirmed that I have a meningioma with tails. He feels we can wait and see if it grows or I get more symptoms before we do anything. I have another MRI in 6 months. I was glad to hear this but it is still a little concerning to realize you have a brain tumor. Blessings to all of you that are dealing with many of the same concerns. I will keep you posted. Thank you all for your ongoing support 🙏 ❤️

@doyel: My 8mm meningioma hasn't grown in 2 years. So try and relax and just enjoy the holidays. Trust your neurosurgeon's perspective/care plan and try not to stress. (Easier said than done, I know.)

It is disconcerting and I had to force myself to stop “awfulizing” and remember that Jimmy Carter did very well with him brain surgeries and our tumors pale in comparison to his. If he can do it, so can we! Best wishes, and keep us posted! Merry Christmas!
