Meniere's disease? Can't get ENT to take us seriously
We live in the Seattle area. My husband has been sick for a year now. He has constant ringing in his ears and a feeling of fullness. He also has terrible vertigo that happens for hours every day. He's seen three ENTs thus far. They've done an MRI and CT scan and have found nothing. They've put him on beta blockers and told him to eat less salt, but have done nothing else. Every new ENT is a 3 month wait - every time. Every scheduled lab is another month - every time. His family has a history of Meniere's disease. My husband is losing hope. He wakes up every morning wondering if life is still worth living. He told me the other day that he would understand if I wanted out of our marriage because being married to him must be dreadful at this point.
He's only 42. We have a 10 year old son and an 8 year old daughter. We are desperate. Does anyone know of ANYTHING that we can do to get a doctor to take my husband seriously? Should we give up hope?

Please don’t give up hope. I have suffered with Menieres for several years off and on. I understand about the hours of vertigo and I’ve had drops where you just lose control of your body and fall. I have a great ENT doctor that has me on a low sodium diet, a diuretic, and Betahistine 3 times a day. And lots of water to stay hydrated. And a lot of friends praying for me. I am in Saint Augustine , Fla. Too far for you to see my doctor. But don’t give up. Keep searching for a good doctor that will listen. And find a support group if you can.
Menieres is a diagnosis of exclusion! I would pursue a second opinion at a larger health care facility ie a teaching hospital. Tons of places for you to go. In fact House Clinic which is a well-known ENT clinic and the BEST is located in Los Angeles. Have one of your current ENT's send a referral or self refer. Just my thoughts. I was going to travel there from MS before I discovered the cause of the vertigo and dizziness was due to a new medication that I was taking. So went thru 8 months of dizzy spells, sometimes 3-5 a day and overwhelming vertigo! Thank goodness I did not let the ENT here just stick a steroid in my ear. 2 nd opinion
