Melanoma

I went to the dermatology for a skin check and she removed a mole. After two weeks they called me and sad it was melanoma. She cut out the mole and will do another skin incision to make sure it's all gone. Naturally I am concerned but at stage zero it's highly curable. I will start wearing sunscreen from now on.

Similar circumstances here. My first malignant melanoma, 1A, was caught at the end of 2019. One excision, then one more to take the margins out further, and not another melanoma since. Wishing you similar conditions. Keep a good eye on yourself and have your dermatologist do the same.

@mandyc2025 Yes, you're correct - Stage 0 is melanoma in situ, confined to the top layer of skin only and associated with excellent prognosis. In addition to wearing sunscreen, be sure to check your skin regularly, have scheduled skin checks with a professional and follow these recommended guidelines: https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/simple-steps-to-prevent-skin-cancer
