Mayo Insurance Question

Posted by Dana, Volunteer Mentor @danab, Feb 14, 2019

Good Morning, I have a general question on insurance plans and Mayo Clinic. I have currently Federal BCBS and they did pay for my transplant and follow up care for a year. I am also a retired National Guard member with 26 years and I turn 60 soon. I will then be eligible for Tricare prime or select. My question is does anyone out there have Tricare and how well does it pay for Mayo Doctors. With BCBS after a year Mayo becomes out of network so im looking for options. Thanks Dana

I am in Iowa and go to Mayo in Rochester in a week for testing with the cardiology and pulmonology departments. I was told by Mayo I needed my referring doctor to put in an Out of Network Exception ( I believe it was called) and BCBS approved that the next day. I now have been approved for unlimited evaluation and treatment through June 23 2021.

Hello @susan2120, Welcome to Connect. That's great news that you have your Blue Cross Blue Shield Out of Network Exception approval done. Laurie @roch also had a great tip in her reply to @rootcause93 about creating a Mayo Clinic portal signon if you don't already have one - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/602143/
