Maxillary sinus
Has anyone had their maxillary sinus cleaned, vacuumed , etc with antibiotics due to bacteria in the sinus ?

No, but I wish I could. Don't even know if this is possible but I'm probably going to find out. Was treated by 1 ENT for over a year for 1 sided sinusitis without improvement. Then developed a sinus tract to my hard palate and found my sinus infection was due to abscessed tooth. After 3 failed root canals had tooth extracted. Have had many antibiotics. Still having problems, incl fever. Seeing my PCP this week and I'm guessing on my way to another ENT. 🤞🏻
@arbez I see my ENT Dr on the 20th and he wants to talk to me about a procedure that uses antibiotics to clean, vacuum, scrape or whatever the left maxillary sinus as it was infected with Psuedomonas . I was 21 days on IV Antibiotics and he thinks this other procedure will be added value. I’ve researched and found a procedure call FESS . However it refers to General Anesthesia which I am too high risk for. Does also refer to local Anesthesia however I think that could be very painful. Will share more when I hear ! KayB

1 Reaction@kaybast update…I’m now scheduled on Set 7th for surgery, Maxillary Antrostomy . ENT Dr needed clearance from Cardio Dr as I will be under General Anesthesia . cardio Dr said I would have to go through nuclear stress test first to give ENT Dr clearance . Just had that done and waiting for Doctors to consult if ok to move forward with surgery .EnT Dr thinks he can be successful in eradicating the Pseudomonas that has been the issue in the left maxillary (and the lungs ! ) I’m very encouraged !
@kaybast Just read this post...trust your surgery went well and you're on the healing path. Fingers crossed that your FESS procedure clears up the maxillary problem! Sending good vibes!!

unfortunately the dates got messed up and I am now scheduled for Oct 7th…the EnT Dr wants to obtain clearance from both my Cardio Dr and Pulmonologist . So my Cardio Dr wanted to have a stress test done to give me clearance . I just had that test done so I assume the Drs are collaborating..
