Maxillary Antrostomy

I have had it twice. Do your homework and find the best top ENT who has done a lot of these. The first one did was not effective. The second one went well and still very functional after 20 years. It was not a difficult recovery the second time.

Hi texgrand6...I've had a balloon and an antrostomy. Neither did the trick. Mucus still pools. My excellent ENT held a second antrostomy in the wings as a possibility. Now he thinks maybe it's time. The procedure is called a "revision antrostomy." Is that what you had? My research tells me it's often successful, as yours was. Thanks.

@texgrand6 thank you for sharing … my ENT DR is excellent . He says what he wants to do is alittle more that he can do in his office and I need to be asleep. At several sessions he has numbed me , picked , pulled, vacuumed to help clean out t left maxillary . Last year with infection and this past Feb another infection, the bacteria , Pseudomonas showed up in a culture . He hopes to eradicate that with surgery and open up the sinus for better drainage . That bacteria dripped down through the throat into my lungs and a sputum from the lungs showed Pseudomonas !
My Pulmonary Dr is dealing with that !
This has been chronic enough that at 85 years old and going under General Anesthesia , I’m willing to take the chance that I will do well and feel better ! Thanks again for your thoughts and all the best to you .
