Lymphedema

Posted by @kathys, Feb 2, 2012

Hello….I have lymphedema in my right leg, mostly from my knee up to the top of my thigh. This condition appeared after having a complete hysterectomy back in 2006. My swelling did not show up for two years after my surgery…what a complete surprize!!! I did have some lymphnodes removed during my surgery, thus trauma to my lymph systom, resulting in lymphedema. I have a wonderful physical therapist who has taught me so much about this condition and how to maintain the swelling, so to keep life as “normal” as possible. I never post anything, but thought that it might be a good idea today in case there are any of you out there such as myself and needing to know that there are many of us out here with this conditon and you are not alone. Knowledge is Power. 🙂

I also want to share…a great source of info is from The National Lymphedema Society. Just go to their website and this will lead you to more education and information about this condition. I do hope that this helps. One Day At A Time my Friends. God Bless all of you 🙂

I stand corrected…the website is called The National Lymphedema Network, very very informative for all of us with lymphedema. A great place to get contacts for your particular problem. Hope this brings help and comfort to all with this condition 🙂
