Lung cancer with joints and muscles sore.

Posted by richcolleen @richcolleen, Apr 10, 2020

I have stage 4 lung cancer which has spread before caught. What I’m wondering if anyone has problems with all joints sore? I was on chemo and immune therapy 8 months and since (I quit chemo due to very sick days) been on just immune therapy and felt pretty good until the last week.

I am also have joint pain and sore joints... however, oncologist sluffs it off and tells me to contact my family doctor and when I mentioned it again to his nurse.. she says that it is not related to cancer or cancer treatments... I don't believe this as I did not start getting this joint pain till several months after immunotherapy started. I was on nivolumab up till two months ago ... I had 6 infusions to that date... infusions cancelled due to a high rise in covid patients at our local hospital ... the oncologist says it it not the risk of going to the hospital .. he told me I would have 0% chance of survival if I get the virus... not sure why he feels that way.. yes.. I do have stage 4 lung cancer but have no breathing issues and am usually active.. no shortness of breath.. etc.. just had a CAT scan on May 22nd of the Chest.. will get results on June 3rd.. hoping that not getting my infusions did not bring me back to square one with my cancer 🙁

Hello again @janlanderz- This must be so hard for you. I too, as you know, have stage 4 lung cancer and if I get COVID-19 I will most certainly not survive it. All lung cancers damage lung tissues. Also, you have had some serious chemicals that probably damaged some too. Cancer patients have weakened immune systems so that is why he said what he did about you not surviving the virus. And according to most medical reports people who are put on respirators easily succumb.

It's amazing that you have stage 4 lung cancer and do not have any shortness of breath. I know that you have struggled to secure trusting doctors and treatments in the past. Since your present oncologist and his nurse seem to be poopooing your symptoms and contradicting what you've heard about COVID-19 and hospitals I am wondering if you think that it's time to seek other channels for your treatments and sanity. Is this something that you might consider?

@shortshot80 Hi Nancy,

I hope that the ultrasound provides information about this problem. It sounds like something that would create a lot of pain. Is that the case for you?

I may be changing oncologists, but that requires driving 2 and a half hours away to see the doctor, which is fine.. because I can apparently get my infusions at a hospital, that is 45 minutes from here.. basically considered like one of their satellite sites for infusions and or scans, etc..

@janlanderz- Please let me know what you decide. I think that switching might be advisable at this time. Best of luck!

MY FRIEND TOLD ME I NEEDED CLOSURE AFTER MY HUBBY PASSED AFTER 67 YEARS, SO i THOUGHT I HAD BETTER HAVE A BEGINNING FOR HIM, SOOOOO ENDED UP WITH A AUTOBIOGRAPHY. IT TOOK ME A YEAR AND HALF TO WRITE IT. I FINISHED IT IN MARCH MY 87TH BIRTHDAY. I AM PROUD OF MYSELF AND I KNOW THAT MY HUBBU IS TO. NANCY

@shortshot80 Hi Nancy:

I finally finished your book. What a neat story about you and your family. I really enjoyed reading about all of the community activities you were involved in, I know your community appreciated you! I also enjoyed hearing about your school bus driving days. You must have had great fun dressing up for the kids when holidays came around. I'm sure that they all loved you!

You talked about "dory fishing." I'm not sure what that was about. Can you fill me in?

The story that was published about you and Bob helped the visitor get back to work on time was certainly touching. You and Bob had great compassion and love for people. You went out of your way to help and assist.

I'm so glad you wrote the book. It is a good example of what family, friends, and faith should be.
