lung cancer rt upper lobe

Posted by catdoris @catdoris, 2 days ago

I am a 77yr old female. I had a ct scan of the lungs and it showed a 5cm mass in upper rt lobe. I am set up for a pet scan and biopsy of the mass. If it is cancer is there hope for me?

@catdoris, I’m glad you found our group. As you’ve read, there are many of us living full lives with lung cancer, even late stage lung cancer.
The PET scan will help to give a picture of how active the mass is, and if you get a biopsy, that will confirm the pathological make up. That biopsy will be most helpful in matching the mass to a treatment, whether it is infection, fungal, or cancer. Please let us know what the tests show. How are you doing? The waiting is always a difficult part of the process.

@lls8000 Thank you for all the words of encouragement. I am a little an anxious, My pet scan is scheduled for next Wednesday, than next day I will see the pulmonologist, and go from there.
Thanks again Lisa.
