lumbar pain

Posted by besmith57 @besmith57, Apr 20 9:19am

I have unbearable lumbar pain. I had a double fusion in 2022. I now have pain in my lower back. I have tried everything possible: injections, ablation, PT, lumbar massager, pain pump, etc. Both my pain dr and PT tech said I would have this pain forever. I can't live with this pain. I know this is a reach, but does anyone have a suggestion to help this pain go away? It has affected my quality of life immensely. Lots of tears! I just want to be pain-free! Maybe I'm asking for something that isn't possible. Any ideas would sure be appreciated. I love this site with all the knowledgeable, nice people! Thank you!

Thanks for your suggestion. I have never heard of neuroplastic. I will have to research it. I don't believe my pain is only in my muscles. I have a bulging disc with a pinched nerve. I will discuss it with my pain management doctor.

Thanks again!

besmith, sorry about the doctor's bad day. I hope she at least ordered the cholesterol labs. We need normal caring from our doctors. I hope she can earn favored status again.
It's amazing how small physical distresses can make people less kind.
I hope you can find a good surgeon for a consultation.

She did order the cholesterol blood work after I explained my PCP wouldn't do it a couple of months ago. It went down! I have an appointment in 6 months. If my PMR is still under control, I will cancel her appointment. According to Google, my pinched nerve and bulging disc would not be helped by surgery. I will talk to my pain doctor on May 5th.
Thanks for your kind response.

besmith57, did google say why. https://theadvancedspinecenter.com/surgical-treatments-for-a-pinched-nerve/

Google is great for leads but isn't trustworthy. And a full 1/3 of PMR diagnoses are inaccurate; there isn't a definitive test for PMR.
Wishing you the best.

I read the website. It was very informative. Thank you. I think I could be a candidate for surgery. It's been 5 years today that I broke my first vertebrae. The second one was a month later. Then it compressed. So 5 years of constant pain. UGH!
