Low Oxygen Levels, Has Anyone Not Been Able to Get Diagnosis

Posted by SusanEllen66 @SusanEllen66, Apr 14 1:26am

How can I have 02 levels that average 91, and nothing is apparently wrong.

I have had a checkup with my cardio, pulmonary, kidney and neurologist. They can’t find anything wrong.

I feel short of breath, I get clamy, I’m exhausted.

My brain isn’t getting enough oxygen, and I already have dementia…

What type of environment are you in on a daily basis? Are you exposed to any chemicals that you're inhaling, including cleaning agents, from rubbing alcohol to chlorine based agents?

Do you have any family or friends who can go to appointments with you to help you advocate for better care?

Did your doctors do any testing/imaging (X-ray/MRI of lungs) to get to the root of your low oxygen levels? Did they do bloodwork to check for anything abnormal? Have they tested you for sleep apnea with a sleep study? Did they offer you supplemental oxygen or CPAP if you have sleep apnea?

Did you have Covid or the mRNA injection? Is your oxygen level lower than usual for you and how long has this been lower than normal for you?

You need to get copies of all of your medical records and review in detail to see if any testing/lab work shows any abnormalities.

You should also have your full iron blood panel, thyroid blood panel and vitamin D checked. Deficiencies can also be behind your symptoms. The full panels are needed because CBC and TSH results are not enough.

Another thought is to see a dietitian/nutritionist who can get lab work and check diet for changes needed and supplementation that might be helpful.

@SusanEllen66 something that periodically affects me is a sinus infection that migrates down into my lungs. I have asthma and allergies and this creates phlegm in my lungs that interferes with oxygen absorption. I will feel tired and when it gets bad, I notice my heart rate goes up more than normal. The solution is something I learned as a pre surgery preventative when doctors had me use antibiotic ointment inside my nose to clear any staff infections. I was prescribed mupirocin and it works great for this. It will cause phlegm that needs to be cleared as the lungs are flushing out an infection. I feel ok when this happens except for being tired and exhausted from not enough air. I will be fine after about 5 days of treating this and my doctors have given me a prescription to use as needed,

@saganjames not anymore. I used to paint with alcohol ink, but haven’t for several years.

I don’t use anything like that. I live alone in a condo. No pets.

Chest x-ray is normal.

@dlydailyhope I have a sleep disorder, but it’s related to my brain not functioning correctly (idiopathic hypersomnia).
Chest x-ray is normal.
I’ve been tested every which way because I have neurological problems including dementia.

That is a different approach!

My lungs are good. GERD causes coughing at night, but I take liquid Mylanta before bed and that really helps.

Okay then, let's try another variable. You said that you live in a condo. Would you know if the flooring was put down with any type of a glue? Inhaling adhesive fumes could result in serious complications. From what I have read, even short-term exposure can cause headaches, nausea, and respiratory issues.

If it were me, I would ask for a cpap with supplemental oxygen when I sleep and use supplemental oxygen during the day. Lack of oxygen to your brain will make dementia worse.
