Long Term Stay at Marriott Residence Inn 441 W Center Street

Hello. I am new to this group and please forgive my mistakes. I've been reading past posts about long term stays at the Marriott Residence Inn that's connected to Mayo by subway. post bone marrow transplant. We are considering this as an option if my bone marrow transplant occurs. Would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who has stayed there recently. We know the cost is $$$. My transplant may occur in Fall or Winter 2026.
Thank you so much.

Hi @mkaren. My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn for 4 months, 7 years ago during my bone marrow transplant. We still use the hotel anytime we return for visits and were just there this month.

For the transplant, we weighed the alternatives and elected to stay there. We wanted something close to the clinic where we didn’t need to rely on finding a parking spot.
You’re right. It is connected via the Subway to the clinic. Easy 2 block walk inside the newly revamped Subway. If the need arises, Mayo also lets you borrow one of their wheel chairs for easy transport that you can keep in your room. The first couple of weeks you will most likely want to be wheeled like a queen. ☺️

While we were there, we parked in the Marriott’s indoor parking. But now, right across the street you can use the Mayo West Parking ramp for $12.00 daily and quite often Mayo waves the fee.

Since we are more on the private side, we opted not to use facilities like the Gift of Life Transplant house. We rented a two bedroom/two bath unit at the Marriott. It had a full kitchen with stove, full-sized fridge, disposal, fireplace, dishwasher, laundry and a gym are on the 2nd floor.

We learned that if you stay in a hotel in Rochester, to check with the desk to see if you can sign a monthly lease. That way you avoid county room tax, which adds up in a hurry.
Here is just one of many comments I’ve made about the staying at the Marriott.

The rooms have recently been updated. While you’re recovering your caregiver will have plenty of areas to walk and enjoy nature, shop, sight see.
Do you have any specific questions or anything else I can help you with regarding your stay, what to pack, etc., or anything regarding your upcoming transplant?

Thank you Lori. I read your posts as well and appreciate your updates. And yes, we were considering other places but the privacy, TVs in room, ability to have family visits when possible, full kitchen, grocery delivery were so attractive. I am supposed to be admitted soon to Methodist for the next chemo and my family plans to go to the hotel just to get a feel for it and to talk with the staff, walk the subway, etc.
Any suggestions on what to pack would be helpful as well.
Thank you!

@mkaren I’m lazy tonight…LOL. I found an old post that I’m going to cut and paste for you! There are several links in the post regarding transplant information and also packing for long term stays!

I’ll be offline most of tomorrow but please feel free ask questions anytime. There’s a lovely group of fellow BMT members, along with myself who are happy to help where we can. ☺️
