Long Covid inflamed Vocal Chords

Posted by albrecht71 @albrecht71, Feb 17, 2022

I have little to no voice and when talking I have gasp to breathe, heart races doing little things, fever, no energy fatigue. I’m 41 days in my fight. Just wondering if there are any suggestions out there.

My daughter had a milder form of this, used salt water gargles and steam (head over a hot bowl of water with a towel over head to keep the steam in)

She’s recovered her voice after about 2 1/2 weeks.

Rarely, the virus can damage nerves including the vocal cord nerves. Suggest seeing your doc and see if they think a referral to an ENT specialist is warranted. All the best!

There is a new study linking Long Covid to inflammation of the vagus nerve. That could explain the voice issues.

I have vocal chord issues included in my long Covid journey. I’m a high school teacher and worship leader so talking and singing are vital! Gargling has helped tremendously and also have been doing breathing exercises to help with lung function as well as heart rate. I found a great video for vagus nerve massage, too! I’ve been trying everything over the last 6 months and those are the things that have helped me so far.

Thank you for your advice! I have been doing breathing exercises to improve lung function and salt water gargle.
