Locally advanced pancreatic tumor started growing and kidney function

CA19-9 reduced from 16,000 to 74 then stopped responding to chemo so we did stereotactic radiation after that it started aggressively growing and CA19-9 is up to 2,300. We started Onivyde chemo yesterday. Any thoughts of it working and success after all the other. 84 years old and on a walker now

@carol1951, I'm bringing @gingerw into this discussion. While she doesn't have the same cancer as your husband, she also has to balance chemotherapy and kidney function.

Carol, what adjustments have been made to your husband's treatment in order to reduce the effect on his kidneys?

@carol1951 I am sorry to read the struggles your husband is going through. As @colleenyoung mentioned, I am also a cancer patient with compromised kidneys from unrelated issues.

The biggest thing for me is that my entire medical team is in contact with each other. They are not in the same practice, but are physically about 5 miles away from each other. They keep email contact, and bounce information back and forth, always considering my chemo and dialysis together. I became very educated on how to watch for backslides in my health. We have chosen to go "marathon not sprint" for my cancer treatment, in order for my whole system, including kidneys, to stay as stable as possible. There sometimes has to be some give-and-take, unfortunately.

This cancer takes a tole on the spouses. We are both disabled. I have an injured spinal cord so it has been difficult. All these appointments and watching his decline
