Lobectomy surgery preparation

@amalita, I had a video assisted lobectomy for my upper left lobe in 2020 and a wedge removed two years later on my right lower lobe. I brought very little with me because your stay in the hospital is only about three days and they send you home, whatever I took with me never got used and then I just stayed in the hospital gowns, it was comfortable for the time being. I hope your surgery goes well and a speedy recovery, best wishes.

hi @amalita - I haven't had that specific surgery, but for other ones I've used a zip up hoodie/sweatpants to arrive/leave in. I always like to have some lip balm and hand lotion in the hospital. I hope everything goes really well for you.

Good morning- I had a segmentectomy of my left ypper lung in May of 2023. I brought the clothes to go home in, my hair brush, a hair tie, (I have longer hair), tooth brush, tooth paste, slip on shoes, ( Like slippers), I live in AZ, so it was hot and just needed a button up tank top. I found them at Walmart and Amazon. A zip up hoodie sounds like a good idea. You won’t want to wear a bra! Goodwill is another place I find things I can’t find anywhere else. I also wore slip on sweat pants. I pray all goes well for you!🙏🙏🙏🙏 Cindy

I had my video assisted surgery to remove my upper left section of my lung in February of this year. I stayed in the hospital for 6 days. You will have a tube to empty the fluid around the. This was the only thing that bothered me, it goes everywhere with you. They gave me Tylenol & gabapenten seems like every 4 hours so the pain was minimal. Bring loose pjs & house shoes to walk around. I was surprised the pain wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I’m riding my bike 8 miles a day and back in the saddle. Good luck.

Not sure if you are a man or woman, but if a woman ... I'd recommend not wearing a bra for awhile after surgery ... at least for me it rubbed right over the incision area and was painful. Loose sweatshirts that zip up are a good idea, too
