Sorry to jump in so late but I had seen your question earlier when I didn't have time to respond. I wanted to pass along something in response to your question on diet. In March I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma that was able to be removed surgically, but since it involved one lymph node they also recommended and I opted for 4 rounds of follow-up chemo. Before everything was lined up I pulled up info on Amish Healer Solomon Wickey and his Healing Plan diet that my fiance remembered from when his father had cancer 20 years ago. It was quite well known at the time in our area since he lived in our State and many people around personally knew people who were helped. I went as far as making sure my oncologist didn't see any red flags with the plan and bought the ingredients but only followed it for 2 days. Once I knew I was scheduled for surgery I fell back on comfort food during the days before surgery, to be honest. But, since it sounded like the type of info you were seeking I wanted you to know that if you Google him you should be able to see what you think. I just checked and found what I think was the most helpful site I had found in the Spring- lovehomeandhealth.com. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I hope that your total faith in your God will not disappoint you. Please, please get more pain meds though even if you do not want to get any further treatments. The last thing that you do not want to see is your mom in horrible pain. I wish you and your family and your mom peace in the time ahead. If you need further help do not hesitate to let us know. We only want the best for your family.

Hi @samanthaezu, I appreciated that you posted more information about your mother's diagnosis and treatment recommendation. I had to remove it because the patient's full name and patient ID was not blacked out. I saw that you blacked out her name and understand the value of safety and privacy. From the information you posted, it would appear that your mom has metastatic lung cancer which is stage 4 (not stage 2). The diagnosis appeared incomplete. For example, the type of lung cancer was not specified.

It is common for people to seek second opinions from medical professionals. If this is possible where you live, I strongly urge you to do so. Cancer pain is a common symptom of metastatic cancer (cancer that has spread). Morphine can help. Sometimes other treatments, like radiation, can ease the pain. If possible, seek the help of a cancer pain specialist or palliative care doctor. Definitely tell your mom's doctor if the current pain medication is not helping enough. I hope you can find a way to ease your mom's pain.

Ok. Is she aware that herbal medicines are not the first choice for treatments? There are other clinics near you that can provide a more tested and complete approach to what your mom has. Lots of patients with lung cancer do get severe pain, but this is where other tested approaches to cancer come in. Since herbal medicines are not tested and seldom work for cancer symptoms your mom's pain might continue to be bad or increase. I wish that I could give you better news. Is there anyway you can suggest to your mom to at least talk to another doctor, connected to another way of handling cancer?
