Living in the world today

Hello to all

I have to post this as a ‘just want to talk’ with the discussion group…I woke this morning with a serious case of anxiety and part of it probably reflects the event of yesterday…the title of this topic..
I was in Walmart yesterday in a self checkout line with a medium order..the first line of machinery was blocked off.. I noticed behind me a lady in her late 40’s mid fifties wanting to move by me to the other side of the checkout machines…they were being used but I mentioned that I could move my basket if she wanted to get by..she replied no, I will back up and start over again.. I didn’t think 🤔 much about it until I was finished scanning and the chip reader malfunctioned…Walmart was crowded and very noisy, therefore to get the young man’s attention to the problem, I was forced to yell over to him to get him to see that I was having trouble..he was a nice young guy…I would say Latin American who agreed with my comment that these machines ought to be taken out, they seem to be more problematic than time consuming…the point is, at some point behind me, the lady who wanted to get by, met my eye as the assistant and myself started to move to another machine, and glared at me, Iwas about to ask her something, I’m not sure what, when she uttered the statement’I can only be embarrassed for you’, I’ve never seen or heard such rudeness’…I was stunned, but I did say to her, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about lady’…the rest went fast, the young man scanned the ticket info from the malfunctioned reader and I was off. I thanked him, and he was nice said ‘have a nice one’ and then she called him over and started apologizing to him for my behavior…my Irish went up on that and I yelled over to her,and said ‘lady, I don’t know what your problem is, but you should mind your own business’….that’s as mild as I could keep it….and I left…I’ve been shopping there for years, have had nothing but nice experiences from customers and employees who help me in many ways…but this is the world we live in today…this woman looked stressed to the …she had that deranged look in her eye…it really gave me the creeps…the tension and stress that people are going through these days can sometimes cross the food checkout lines….🙏pvctom

A little gratitude also goes a long way. I was hacked. I went along with the hackers for a while thinking they were helping me and finally came to the realization of what was happening to me an broke contact. I was immediately able to contact my credit card companies and locked them, but not my bank. They do not have after hours customer support, so I will be on the doorstep tomorrow morning at 8:30 and hope they were not able to clean out my account. My next-door neighbor has been very supportive during this time. When I finally was able to calm down after calling myself all kinds of stupid, she was reassuring. Then it dawned on me that I was taking her for granted. So I specifically made a point of telling her how much I appreciated her support and thank her for being there for me. How many other times do we forget to do this?

I was in the checkout line at Walmart a couple years ago. I smoke, that’s my business, I use it as a crutch for anxiety and chronic pain.
I asked the cashier the prices on 2 brands of cigarettes. I usually roll my own, so I’m not up to date on what they cost.
The man behind me gave me a disgusted look, and said “How much are you willing to spend to kill yourself”?
Wow, I was just speechless. 😳

I am so sorry for your misfortune and we all have to constantly be on guard…I am fortunate to have 2 neighbors who I can look to whenever they’re not cruising the 7 seas…you did right in confiding in your neighbor and they were in kind with support…it’s a world where I wake up to every morning now with worry on my mind…I try to shake it, but until a say a short prayer and get moving I can be a wreck…It is good that you got your cards locked and the bank will or should reimburse you for any fraudulent activity…don’t blame yourself too bad, some of these hackers/scammers are too good at their trade..living in this world today ‘ain’t what it used to be many long years ago’….be safe and healthy 🙏

@lizziel1

I would be too.. when I started this thread several days ago it was my Walmart experience with a lady who had decided to shame me for different reasons but it adds up to the same…you were probably very smart to stay speechless, for anyone rude enough to encroach upon someone else’s personal business in a check out line is dangerously way off base….the disgusted look is what would and did get to me…you did right…and I’m an ex smoker but I used to hate to be preached to about it, especially from an ex smoker….be safe in today’s world 🙏pvctom

Thank you. They are good at their trade. I read all about the scams and thought I knew enough, but when they start on you it is almost like you are mesmerized and just go along. What finally broke the spell for me was when I was told not to tell anyone about this. That sounded so wrong I finally caught on. But I want to tell you thank you for your support. I need it because I am so disappointed in myself right now.

Don’t be too hard on yourself..it’s happening all the time.. I was riding back from Richmond several years ago from our instrument hunt for drums and guitars, the point is my friend and
Drummer Tony got a cell call from a guy pretending to be his nephew in New Jersey needing money to get out of something…he really had Tony going for about 3 minutes, then Tony abruptly said, you’re not my nephew and how did you get my number and the information you know about my nephew..he finally said F#%^
and disconnected…these people are good…I don’t like having to look over my shoulder but it’s getting rather ‘chilly’ out there, or things are getting’chilly’…be careful and be safe..🙏pvctom

I have come to believe that every human being is doing the best they can with the hand they were dealt and I mean everyone. We do not control our biology nor do we control the environment that we were shaped by and live in currently. Everyone does the best they can with what they have.

This belief has led me to the conclusion that everyone deserves kindness and compassion. Looking at everyone as fellow travelers on this thing we call life relieves me of a lot of resentment. I do this for me. Maybe I help others too but my goal is to maintain as much peace as I can in my life.

All human beings suffer. I find that trying to remember allows me to let a lot of things slide. God knows I hope people will let me slide as I do something stupid at least once a day.

I hope you live in peace and good health.

Hello to all

Monday at the mall..forgot my cane at the filling station…hopefully it is still there…this weekend seemed to come and go and went…the typical morning fears came again and I thought—my wife and I are due for cardiology checkups tomorrow morning…I find myself sort of in a daze thinking 🤔 about…well just not such happy thoughts…I wish it were otherwise…I feel the need to type out something on my phone and share it with Connect…perhaps I will feel better tomorrow….I have said a short prayer to alleviate the anxiety and replace it with serenity…tonight is a HAM radio Echolink NET…I need to count my blessings at this point..my bruises around the right hip (the non operated one) and left knee are doing much better..
I may have put this here before…but I read in a whiteboard in big black sharpie long ago ‘that worrying is like sitting in a rocking hair, it’s something to do
but gets you nowhere’…and I’ll add to that, ‘feeling down also gets you nowhere, and remember—-that this too shall pass’…wish all here a good safe week…🙏pvctom

Thank you for your comments. All so true. Life wears us down and it’s hard to stay positive.
I am the same, my worries are very hard to put aside, but I know they are negative.
