Liver fibrosis stage 3

Posted by omemee @omemee, Jun 12 5:34pm

Has anyone here been diagnosed with stage 3 liver fibrosis? I have lost 25 pounds while cutting sugar and carbs. I take rezdiffra. Wondering if stage 3 can be improved. Also, do any of you take vitamin E gelcaps for fatty/fibrosed liver? Was diagnosed through liver biopsy.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Liver Diseases Support Group.

It is so reassuring to hear fibrosis can be reversed. I didn’t think it could be. I knew fatty liver could be. Thank you. Did you take ant medications as well? I have really cut back on carbs, sugar, processed foods, list 30 pounds and take rezdiffra. My alt is now 29 down from 51. Hope my fibrosis levels will budge in the right direction too!!

@bevvon see if you can get a fibro scan. They're offered for free in my area for research purposes. A scan shows fat level of liver and scarring/stiffness which determines fibrosis/cirrhosis level. I was level 3, a step from cirrhosis, and totally reversed it in 6 months with diet. I lost 40 pounds, stopped fried, processed, fast foods. Gave up dairy, alcohol and red meat. Focused on fish, poultry, fruits and vegetables. Eat organic whenever possible. There are liver support groups and liver recipe groups on Facebook. Good luck!

@trishwrite1 Thank you so much! I've been eating all organic for years and never processed, etc. I've thought that organic dairy and meat is good for us though.

@lylii Thank you SO much. Exactly what I was thinking about the FDA and Rezdfra. I'm in Oakland, California, so yes. I would have to get a referral for a new one, which can take weeks/months, but I'm thinking I should ask why he didn't read what he wrote or said. Originally, he said not likely cirrhosis but then I had the fasting test and he said it was likely, and his team would contact me and didn't. Finally, after chasing him, he repeated his first diagnosis, so I reminded him he said cirrhosis likely after the second test.

That all sounds incompetent. He wants me to have an ultrasound to make sure I don't have cancer, so I'm doing that next week.

Actually, a pain doctor said my ALT and AST were almost normal. I'm wondering if all this is about getting more people on Rezdiffra for kickbacks.

I am afraid you have to consider if your doctor is getting a kick back to push Rezdfra. It's too common with doctors and the "pill" industry. Of course, you could ask your doctor straight out if he is getting any compensation from Rezdfra. But a hepatologist is your best source for getting expert liver diagnosis and any medication. Good luck!

@ewei6911 Thank you so much. I will ask him when I finally see him next. I was referred to him as an "expert," but have no idea how to get to a hepatologist. (I thought you wrote herpatologist at first, and that would be nice.)
