Is lichen planus connected to autoimmune encephalitis?
Any recommendations for dealing with it?
I have tried all kinds of different mouth washes, gels etc. The best I can manage is to numb the soreness for a while.

Hi @esther589, I expanded the title of your discussion to reflect the questin you are asking. My understanding is that lichen planus is not categorized as an autoimmune condition. However it has been associated with autoimmune conditions like alopecia areata, autoimmune thyroiditis, celiac disease, dermatomyositis (DM), type 1 diabetes mellitus, Sjogren's syndrome, and systemic lupus erythematosus.

My understanding is that lichen planus IS an autoimmune condition for which there is no cure. Mine goes into remission for periods of time - sometimes years but can reemerge in response to stress or oral dental work.
