Anyone on Lexapro? Do you like it? Does it work? How do you feel?

I was on it years ago. It helped a lot with my anxiety and depression. I took it for almost 2 years and stopped suddenly. I would not advise that. A slow taper off is best when you feel you no longer need it. It did cause weight gain as a negative.

I was not successful with Lexapro. I was up all night with diarrhea. I do have a friend who used it for a year or so and it really helped her.

I have been on 20 mg, lexapro/citalapram for 15 years for depression, it works. Weight gain is possible, but feeling like you can cope is worth it. Now with a grip on my depression causes, I’m going off, warning, it is not easy. I’m tapering 50% increments over 6 weeks, even with that process the withdrawal symptoms are difficult.

I was on lexapro for many years , my doctor is taking me off and putting me on cymbalta , I think I am in the withdraw phase . I have been sick for 4 days with flu like symptoms , I did not ween of this pill correctly , can that be why I am sick ? If so can I restart and redo the process to feel better ? Thank you

Yes go back to regular dose. Then using a pill cutter reduce pill by quarters. It takes awhile but works well.
Cold Turkey is awful.

My hope of getting off lexapro within 6 weeks isn’t working because of the symptoms you just described. Going from 20mg to 10mg I have had flu like symptoms plus all the other symptoms they tell you about. So I cut pills in quarters and going slower. Try
your regular dose for a week, then cut your pill in half and take that for two weeks and see how you feel. Then progress to lower dosages over the weeks that follow. It is not easy.

Thank you for reaching out , no this is not easy at all , my dr put me back on them and we will decide from there. I have to much anxiety now to try to come off in my opinion. I lost my 35 year old son almost a year ago to a drunk driver hitting and killing him while he was working in road construction , so I have a lot of anxiety and depression from that. She thought maybe getting off lexapro and trying something else would help but nope ! I am a mess. Getting better today at least

I am tapering off now. I was on it off and on for two years. I tried to stop it cold turkey and my side effects were rage, anxiety, and depression again in full force. I had to resume and instead of 10mg wean down to 5mg. I think I have taken 5mg for a week now. I have increased the dosage of my Welbutrin XL from 150mg to 300mg. This is at the suggestion and prescription of my primary physician. My side effects or reason for discontinuing Lexapro is a lack of sexual desire and loss of my creativity since there were no feelings of passion. Not a zombie-like existence as some others have said was their experience taking it, but an emotional numbness. I am going to see how doubling the dosage of Welbutrin XL affects my libido and creativity. Hope this helps you to decide.

I'm taking a combination of Welbrutin and Lexapro. It's hard to describe how my life has changed with adding Lexapro. I'm wonderful!!! Things that would normally "flip my switch" just roll off my shoulders.
