Let's put some cheer : )))

This time of the year is for many (even for very healthy people) challenging and depression promoting, so let’s try to put some cheer in our small community by remembering “small things that can make us smile” no matter what ? The sight of our loved ones is an obvious choice, so let's think of the next best thing ; )- what sight, smell, sound or activity lifts your spirit at once ?

For me it is seeing any very tiny bird in my garden (warbler, finch, wren, vireo, hummingbird …) - I just melt instantaneously < 3 ! I LOVE watching their 100% enjoyment of every second of their life, always happy, always chatting, chasing, bathing - no matter what the weather looks like : )).

What is yours ? : )))

This is a great idea. I am heartened by seeing my 12 months old granddaughter, who was born very underweight, standing and talking out loud (not quite words yet...but still!) and showing other amazing progress.

Aaaaawe, I can only imagine how the very sight of her melts your heart < 3 !
It is the greatest blessing to have a grandchild and I hope one day I will experience that wonder too < 3 : )))

Interesting how many recurring themes there are here and so many of the same things I enjoy—making music (classical piano for my own pleasure and my wife’s), nature (deer and birds, we even had a black bear in our yard last spring), cooking and baking (I recently perfected a consistent pie crust). Even when the radiation and ADT were at their worst, these things made life more bearable. My current favorite, however, is getting stronger, going longer, and losing fat after finishing ADT a little over a year ago. I still have deficits and may have some of them for life, but each time I conquer the next hurdle, it gives me a real high.

Thanks for sharing Nikola < 3 !

Yes, isn't it amazing how small things actually make us happy and are the key for our survival and well-being but so many imagine that fame and money are the key to happiness (?????).

Well, I wish I can try your pies ; ) he he - what is your favorite filling ? : )))

That couple I mentioned that dries 50 miles comes from San Jose. I forget that you live in the Bay Area.

The club that I go to is Nick’s Restaurant and bar in Pacifica. You might come up one time and check it out.

Thanks Jeff for sharing a name of the restaurant ! < 3 : ))))
You know, we might actually try to make "a night trip" to SF when weather gets better in a springtime ha ha ! It would be super fun to meat you and your wife and dance ! < 3 I get that couple 100% - nothing in SJ of this sort , unfortunately.. Young engineers just sit home and virtually play games with their gamer buddies and virtual girlfriends - it all is getting really scary and sad indeed *sigh : (((

I am a 6’4” and my wife is 5’6”. We are a lot smoother now since we’ve done these steps and many more for multiple weeks in the last year. Both 77 and 76 here and my balance isn’t the best.

Hey JC- nice to see you here, I was wondering this morning how are you doing and if I you will stop by to share your favorite sights : )

That all sounds so lovely < 3 !

Turkeys are very big and powerful birds ! Do you ever feel little bit intimidated with such a big tribe walking a sidewalk , ha ha, I must admit that I feel fear when I am near massive birds (like turkey, swan, crane etc) since I was attacked by a huge rooster as a child he he he ...

Yes took a hiatus for a short time from PC. I am an ambassador for UFHPTI and a person contacted me for information. I gave him information on UFHPTI information packet and also mentioned Mayo Community Connect as a real time forum for those who have had PC and or family members who have a loved one going through the journey.

I did not come off MCC completely. I am on other forums (Heart Failure, ENT, mental health, etc.) and just added diabetes as my wife has it. Her case is uncontrolled 1 and really suffers.

I wanted to be better informed to be a better care giver for her and learned a lot from others and the mentors.

Those turkeys can be a little intimidating. When threatened they spread their feathers to look bigger (and it works) and squawk at you. Wish I could tell them I have no intentions to harm you just admire you and your tribe.

I am doing okay but more involved with my wife's medical issues these days as a care giver for her.
Hope you enjoy and have good holidays.

Awe, JC, I am so sorry to hear that about your dear wife : (.

I really, really hope that she will find a good way to control diabetes 1. I am sure that you will find the best care and the best treatment for her.

I will be sending you both healing vibes /\ and I wish you Happy Holidays and very happy and healthy New Year < 3

Great idea, @surftohealth88. Really enjoyed all the responses. For me, it’s being outdoors, seeing and hearing all the birds, and the chance sighting of other animals. Lastly, the waves and hellos from others who are out and about also make me smile. Thank you all for sharing!
