Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots.
Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.’
And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect? And Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
– Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule
So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.
Who’s in? Who’s going to join me? Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

I did go and I do feel better. Breathing out through my mouth and in through my nose makes me tolerate the walk much better vs winded ness. In December I had the right upper lobe of my lung removed in Colorado, so I’m still trying to expand my lungs and this is a really good way to get out there and push myself a little. Thank you for listening.

To all the “walkercizers”. I’m not such a good do—er in this walking group! I’m having a terrible time getting out for my walks! I blame it on reducing my steroids again. I can barely stay awake. But, no excuses. So I’ve walked every day and then collapse after! But I admire all of you for getting out there!

@becsbuddy Don't push yourself you can always make up for it later 🤣
@becsbuddy– I didn't even get out to walk. I've been besieged by migraines. My medicine takes a while to kick in and then I'm so relieved and tired I need to lie down too. But today looks brighter! Have you talked to your doctor about why you are so fatigued by decreasing your steroids? Or do you know?
Good morning walkercizers- If any of you are bored with plain ole walking and are regular exercisers just do this! It's the latest rage!

I have to have a serious conversation with my hip and legs to convince them to dance walk. I do dance at home sometimes when I ask my Google home to play me some dance music.

@merpred. I saw the doctor on Tuesday and he said that 5mgs is the bare minimum until my body starts up again. Sent him a message today, anyway, asking again
@becsbuddy We'll go as the Anonymous Mentors, and wear a mask. Oooh, the Masked Mentors, just "doin' their thing"! And @merpreb is all to blame for it. But seriously, folks, anything to get you feeling more enthusiastic about getting out there. As for me, if it helps the motivation, who cares what people think? This coming from someone who often sings a song while walking, no device in my ears, just singing along.
