Chronic skeletal issues with reducing venlafaxine daily dosage
I have posted on this site in the past, about my experiences in reducing my venlafaxine dosage. Some fifteen to twenty years ago I was put on this drug as a last resort; it literally saved my life. For that reason I would never say that I wish I’d never taken it. Without venlafaxine, I would not be here now. My dose was increased to 300 mgs. per day. I forget the time scale of increases. I managed, nearly two years ago (I think), to reduce to 75mgs, but then took it every other day rather than taking 37.5mgs.each day. That was the worst decision I could have ever made, one which brought on horrific withdrawal effects. In the end I gradually had to return to the full 300mgs. Around one year ago I started reducing again, this time buying the book: ‘The Maudesley Deprescribing Guidelines’ first. I am now down to 37.5mgs, and have been congratulating myself on my success so far. However, over the last months I have been experiencing increased pain from my chronic skeletal issues. It has recently transpired that this situation is most likely to have been very much worsened, by my reduced daily venlafaxine dose. I have made the decision therefore, not to reduce this further at present. I have no idea what my best course of action is, going forward. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? I would be most interested to hear from anyone who might have either constructive thoughts, or advice. Thank you.

Good Morning, I was wondering why you are trying to come off the Effexor again if it is working for you? Preference or medical necessity?
One reason I would like to come off it is the mental clarity I have without venlafaxine. The dosage I am on now is the lowest I have managed so far. Another reason is that I am very hopeful that I will also be able to drop my medications for high blood pressure and an underactive thyroid. Venlafaxine can cause problems for both conditions, neither of which caused issues before the venlafaxine was taken.
