Leg and Foot cramps.

Posted by danny5 @danny5, Feb 5 1:10am

wondering if there is anybody with this problem. i get muscle cramps in both legs and feet. but they are more frequent and worse in my right leg. from just below the knee. and into the foot. always at night, when i'm in bed. bad enough that the right foot twitches also.
i hope this is in the correct discussion post.

i really agree with you Doug. i'm not really sure when this change happened with these doctors. NO empathy or sympathy from them. more and more of them only care about the all mighty dollar$$$. they spend as little time with you. they make you make an appointment. they come in maybe 10-15 minutes late. they talk to you about 10 minutes. then rush you out the door. and you absolutely have no clue what happened in the room. but heaven forbid, if you're 10 minutes late to the appointment. they cancel it. but have the nerve to charge you for the appointment. and why do WE put up with it? because, where you live. you may not be lucky enough to find a new doctor, unfortunately. so. a lot of people are screwed. but, just stay connected here. and we have each others backs. d 🏳️‍🌈

I totally agree with you.
Last week I had an appt with a new endocrinologist, which I had made the appt last summer.
They had me fill out 6 pages of medical info, and come in 20 min before my scheduled appt.
I followed the instructions, came in 15 min before my appt time, and was finally seen 25 min past my appt time.
So I sat for 40 min in the waiting room, before I was seen.
Seems like this is par all over at doctor offices.

and their excuses a so stupid. he/she is backed up with another patient. maybe they wouldn't be if the front desk would stop scheduling two or three people in the same time period. like me. one was at 1pm, mine was 1:10, another one was 1:20. and on and on. IDK anymore. d 🏳️‍🌈

It is frightening. I pay for a boutique doctor who has a sick partner and so is very distracted. She arrives late
and only spends a minimum amount of time. She is expensive, but I'm afraid to quit as so many people can't find docs and are going out of town. Going out of town hasn't helped too much, according to them, so what is going on? All the statistics indicate it is an aging population so where are the gerontologists or just those who really care about their patients?

I have them also. Am thinking perhaps they are do to past injuries of the back, knees and/or a lack of water. I don't take any meds for anything. I am an eighty(80) year old female. Any ideas?

I am located in Nevada County, Ca and my boutique doctor charges $1600 per year. I pay $400.00 qtrly; however
the yearly exam is paid by Medicare and she picks up the lab tests. I had a $4,000 lab error and her assistant took care of it. I have her direct phone number and can call at anytime. She is only human and seems to be caring, but appears preoccupied, probably with her partner's health. She is also in her seventies, but is extremely well
organized. I am very much into prevention. Through her and my hard work, my bronchial asthma is gone. I haven't been in an ER for over ten years and I did not out grow the asthma. Since I don't take any meds, I have high deductible health insurance, so all office visits are paid by me. I did the math and I come out better than if I had insurance which paid for most things. Where do I go when she retires? People can't find doctors and my poor husband and others can't get a call back, even from our hospital for serious situations. What is happening?

I believe that the staff often over books just in case some patients don't show or cancel. But also some doctors get interested in their last patient's medical issues or a patient might have a lot of questions and a doctor can lose track of time. So this can cause long waits in the waiting room for other patients. Doesn't help especially if you can't sit for a long time because you have had a broken tail bone.

@danny5 do you do any stretching exercises before you retire for bed? I had a similar issue but once I started doing my HEP (home exercise program) upon waking and at bedtime my issue stopped. I feel if I fatigue my muscles before I go to bed my muscle and nerves don’t need to fire without cause. For me it’s the same thing as exercising to relieve pain which is normal. Give it a try as it may work.

Hi Danny,

Quick update on leg spasms. Neurologist increased the baclofen to 20 mg 4x daily. Added Cymbalta (for my neuropathy pain) and increased the pregabalin doubling it to 150mg 2x daily. If I was depressed before the Cymbalta will tackle that too. Along with anxiety that comes with pain of this magnitude.

I had an improved night sleep. I still had to hang the foot over the beds edge to prevent triggering a spasm. It helps. Weird huh?

Hope you all are feeling better.
