Left side ache from taking prednisone

Posted by kettie @kettie, 6 days ago

I have a continual left side ache after taking prednisone. Anyone else? Doctor wondering if could be stomach ulcers and I have been given omeprazole (PPI), but makes me very dizzy. Sulcerate makes me constipated and nauseous. Anyone else battling with stomach ulcers or left side ache after taking prednisone and what did you do?

I had discomfort just under the ribs on the left side of my abdomen when I first started prednisone. It felt like a pressure as if something was enlarged. It wasn't constant but I felt it at points nearly every day for over a month. I had that feeling once before when I injured my spleen. I mentioned it to both my rheumatologist and hematologist oncologist but it didn't present as anything discernable. I'm not sure what it was but it went away by the time I started tapering down on prednisone.

I had some soreness/ pain that felt like it was between the ribs on my left side. Dr thought it might be some inflammation of the tissue between my ribs. I am tapering prednisone down to 6 mg a day now and it has disappeared. It almost felt like a burning or warm kind of pain. I don't know if it was a side effect of prednisone or inflammation from the PMR not being as well controlled 4-5 months ago.
