Left Atrial Enlargement - Confounding Cause

Posted by fastinghrt @fastinghrt, 16 hours ago

Hello,

I am male, 47 and recently diagnosed with LAE. It's at 4.9cm and I have a history of 20 years of endurance exercise and hidden hypertension. The hypertension is the result of 15 years of smokeless tobacco and then 10 years of mild nicotine gum and packet use. I simply used the nicotine as an aid to concentrate and never thought how bad it was for me.

I need to go through a bunch of tests like echo, stress. This was found incidental on a CTA to for calcium score.

I am devastated and looking to gain as much information as possible.
