@bastoid There is laser surgery for PCa? This is the first time that I hear about it. Before my RARP in June, I had talked to three surgeons, three radiologists and two oncologist. Also did a lot of online research. Never stumbled over a laser surgery option.
I had a RALP in August. At my 6 week check up, my urologist asked about erections and sexual activity. I told him I was waiting for the go ahead and that some erections were returning. He prescribed Cialis daily and Viagra as “needed”. Both have been very effective. I must say, despite not “finishing” like I used to, the nerve sparing process was also very effective! Some of the most intense orgasms I’ve ever had!
@phayes
Wow, that's great, good for you!
Yeah, I'm just at the point where I can start to "experiment" with this.
One question: I could have sworn that you're not supposed to use Viagra if you're already on Cialis, but you were given the go-ahead?
I think it's supposed to be bad for heart/blood pressure, or something...

@sandguy I’ve used Viagra since my diagnosis just for when I need the extra boost. My doc prescribed 5mg of Cialis daily to keep the blood flowing and to reduce atrophy. I also see a cardiologist who doesn’t have an issue with me taking both
I had RARP at Mayo Rochester this fall. My discharge papers said “you may resume sexual activity once the catheter is removed”. (Of course, follow the directions of your Urologist - not my discharge papers).
I had a catheter for seven days. As soon as I pulled it out, (I was on the self-removal protocol), I tested the equipment and successfully masterbated to
completion. That was 7 days after surgury, without having yet started Cialis or Viagra.
I nearly cried with joy. I had been very worried about ED.
Everyone is different, and I perceive that I am an “outlier” in the timing. I am extremely grateful for that.
I have been masturbating 3-4 times a week since. I am not as hard as previously, but it is hard enough to accomplish what is needed!
Unfortunately, I have developed the pesky side-effect of climaturia. Instead of semen, I shoot urine when I orgasm! I’ve read that this is common after RP and usually resolves within 3 months. I hope to get that resolved with some disciplined Kegel workouts over the next few weeks.

Wow, that's a little surprising they said you could do that so soon, since that's typically less than two weeks after the surgery! My understanding was that you don't want to put stress on that newly attached /stretched ureter(?) before it has a chance to really heal up. But it sounds like you've done really well, so that's good.
I have noticed the"climaturia" too, and have been worried, so that's reassuring to hear about that from you.
And, yeah, Kegels, kegels, kegels...!
