Can PMR (Polymyalgia Rheumatica) be induced by vaccine?

Posted by kristem2020 @kristem2020, Jan 2, 2021

Good evening, I’ve recently been diagnosed with PMR. It came on a week after my flu shot October 23, 2020.

Has anyone experienced the same diagnosis after a flu shot?

You state:

"From the history you have relayed it is reasonable to think there might be a connection between getting a vaccine and coming down with PMR."

I have found two scientific studies that have made a connection between vaccines and PMR onset:

I would like to find more.

I am not a conspiracy theorist. I never in a million years would have thought I had anything in common with an anti-vaxxer.
I received a Covid vaccine early in January of 2021 because was a firefighter/first responder (until last month retired after 22.5 years) - AND I was EXTREMELY grateful to get it at that scary time.

However, when I got both a flu vaccine and a covid vaccine on 11/13/24 I developed severe pain throughout my body within about 5 or six days. I was such a believer in vaccines that I did not even suspect them.

I thought maybe I had Lymes disease. It took 10 weeks of extreme pain before doctors finally diagnosed me with PMR.

Once I was diagnosed with PMR - Prednisone helped me in a way no medication has ever helped previously. Before the Prednisone, I basically started thinking my life was over.

I began doing research to find out what PMR was and where it came from and I found scientific research articles making a possible connection between the Flu vaccine and PMR onset. That is when a lightbulb went off in my head and I remembered the vaccines I had received shortly before the onset of my pain.

I am not quite sure what your point is or who you are telling to get a grip. How can I prove that my PMR was caused by the vaccines? I do not know. All I know is that I have never felt anything like this disease before. I was 70 years old when it came on. I am in good condition and exercise regularly.

As far as I know the mechanics of PMR are not well understood by the medical community, but it seems to me to have some very distinct indicators - mainly the severe pain in both shoulders and both hips.

My gut is telling me that my PMR was 100% caused by the vaccines and someday I hope the medical community knows more about it to prevent this painful disease in the future.
I am not suddenly a rabid anti-vaxxer, but I realize now that my absolute bias against them was taken from a position of ignorance. 10 weeks of absolute pain and agony gave me a much different viewpoint. There are many persons out there that have been horribly harmed by vaccines. Otherwise there would not be a VICP program.

I have a teacher friend who got PMR after the covid vaccine. Even her doctor admitted it was probably from the vaccine. She was miserable for quite some time. My granddaughter received the covid shot( I want to say she was 8 years old). She ended up at Yale with suspected lupus nephritis and had fluid around all her organs. My son kicks himself to this day. He thought he was doing the right thing. My granddaughter still is seen and that was at least 4 years ago now. I think for the majority of people it was/is safe, but for many it has initiated something dormant in our DNA that comes to the fore and causes much havoc. After all it was a very quickly developed vaccine. I am not an anti vaccine person - just a cautious old lady. Irene5

I don't see why anyone should go all hush-hush about the possible, or even likely cause of their auto-immune condition for political reasons. Scientific inquiry is more important than politics.

Add this one to your growing knowledge base.
"Clinical cases and series of heterogeneous autoimmune conditions including systemic sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis have been reported to be induced by several adjuvants."
"Adjuvants are substances that are able to trigger autoimmunity via a variety of mechanisms, such as alteration of the host’s immune system..... Exposure to adjuvants can occur in a variety of methods due to their wide range of uses in vaccines, mineral oils, silicone implants, and many other products and devices."
"When used in vaccines, adjuvants are purposely used as immunogenicity enhancing agents that are essential for directing the adaptive immunoresponse. However, they might also trigger undesired autoimmune reactions...."
