Can anyone tell me the best way to taper off Klonopin? I feel it does nothing for my anxiety

Looking for insight on quitting Klonopin. It's the weekend and I can't reach my dr. I have been taking Klonopin a couple times a week - .25 mg for about 7 months. Very low dose. I am wondering if I can just stop. It has four days now since I have taken a pill and I am noticing withdrawal symptoms. The most intense is my insides feel like they are on fire. It comes in waves. Wondering if I should just work through this or if I should have tapered to an even lower dose for a while.

@giav23 Agree, this isn’t a plan. Have been on lorazepam for years and finally off but ok has taken years of patience in weaning off. I tried slowly cutting back about .25 mg for months without telling my physician to see how I did. Eventually I did advise physician I was cutting back but have not advised that I am off for about a month now. Good luck

I stopped Klonopin at age 67 after 15 years of daily use for panic/depression. K made me tired all the time & I slept 12-14 hrs each night & needed stimulants to stay awake at work. The year I began stopping, I just kept lowering my daily dosage back about twice a month, literally by slivers, then going into depression for abt 4 days, then returning to normal, staying a week at normal, then dropping dose by another sliver. In Europe, they will give you pre-measured doses, but in USA you are on your own. I did see my doctor every week during the process. The world being what it is now, I am back on Klonopin, but a much lower daily dosage than before. Stay safe.

You might look into a slow taper. Cold turkey is an awful way to discontinue a benzodiazepine.

I take 1.75mg of Clonazepam ( Klonopin ). I tapered down fro 3mg's over about 2 months. I couldn't go any further. I would suggest tapering, not old turkey.
