Inflamed kidney and ureter following stents for kidney stones

@kotabear43 welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I’m sorry about your situation with the kidney stones and stents. I’m unfamiliar with the use of stents to treat kidney stones. Is that what was done? Could you clarify? There are several ongoing discussions about kidney stones in the Kidney Conditions and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) groups. You might find some useful information there and also some members who have had similar experiences to yours.
I wonder if having the stents Saturday is related to the inflammation and discomfort you feel? Were you given aftercare instructions and information on what to do if you have problems, concerns, questions following the procedure? Perhaps you can contact these providers for follow up advice. Hi! Thank you for reaching out! Yes, I had a 6.6 mm stone that would not pass on its own. I went to the ER and the urologist there performed a uretoscopy to go up into my ureter and grind up the stone. He left in a hollow stent from the kidney leading out of my urethra to allow the stones a larger area to pass. I was told to gently remove the stent by myself at home and did so with seemingly no complications. Unfortunately I had to go back as the collective pieces of stone had caused a "traffic jam" and had not passed through the stent in the first place. The second time was a few days after I removed the stent. Same urologist had gone back up, ground down and apparently sucked out the remnants but still replaced my stent which again, I was told to remove on my own. The third time I was told that my kidney and ureter were inflamed and swollen but no remaining stones or pieces of, were left. Upon discharge I was told it should only be a few days and I would feel better. Honestly I feel like I've been run over by a truck and wondering why I'm not feeling well still. I suppose I had hoped I would be back to normal.
