Kidney numbers dropped

Posted by redmax777 @redmax777, Sep 19, 2024

Hi, my kidney numbers dropped from 36 to 28 in about seven months
Any answers? Creatine 2.5 my primary care physician panicked, but the kidney doctor reviewed my tests and didn’t panic? See you in two weeks appointment

I agree with both of you and appreciate that you are your own advocates and choosing to make the best decisions for yourselves. It's unfortunate that the medical profession sometimes get things wrong and those errors can have adverse effects on us. Keep advocating for yourselves. I pray that God will continue to give you guidance and peace in your decision making.

I have had polycystic kidney disease for many years. Diagnosed in 1998. My GFR is 28%, creatine 1.9. I was placed on Jynarque 5 months ago. At that time my GFR was 35%, creatine 1.6. I am concerned my numbers are worse than before. My nephrologist keeps saying I'm stable, but shouldn't I be seeing some improvement?? I have no symptoms of kidney disease other than these numbers . No swelling in ankles, no back pain, no UTI"s, no kidney stones. Any suggestions or recommendations?? Thank you!

I have blood work done every. 3-4 months for my nephrologist and primary care doctor. It is a full report on blood counts, cholesterol, kidney function and all tests related to the kidneys. Do you see a nephrologist?

Agree with you, susangail53. I am in 4th stage, GFR 25. I will not go on dialysis. And a transplant is so far off in the future, if I'm even approved. There are many that live comfortable lives for as long as they can in stage 4, even stage 5. I asked my nephrologist what the process of dying is like with kidney disease. Let's face it, I want to know. She said painless. You lose energy, sleep a lot as potassium levels rise. I plan to go that route. Thank you for your honesty. Please keep us informed of improvement on Oct. 31 appointment. My next blood draw is in November and done every 3 months. GFR reduces each time but I now get Cystatin C tests as well.

Hi. My GFR levels have been 58-62 for last 2 years or so. In Nov 2024 : 60, March 2025: 58, & then April 24: 28. That's more that 50% decrease in little over a month.
I was shocked. I feel some relief after reading here that GFR can change so quickly. How were your your numbers the next time you were checked? I'm hoping you are doing better. My regular Dr ordered these last tests and I'll see her next week. My Nephrologist appt is few days later. I am praying that a recheck on tests will yield better results.

Debbie Roland
