Kidney cancer and kidney removal: How is life with one kidney?

Posted by vickipm @vickipm, Oct 25, 2025

So after 2 years of various research studies and treatments, my husband's non invasive kidney cancer has returned with an added bonus of three tumors on his bladder.
Those were removed last week during post Jelmyto chemo post check up.
It is recommended to remove the offending kidney. My husband is 75 and we hope this will take care of it. Of course, he'll be tracked for a while.

@loveyoualway, welcome. It's understandable to be nervous about surgery. You mention that you have been battling infections and have been to the hospital many times because of them. Is the recurring infection under control now? What questions do you have as you prepare for surgery next month?
