Ketogenic diet and its effect on tremors
Is anyone practicing a Ketogenic diet to reduce tremors? There has been recent research that mentions positive results, but nothing has been released regarding the results yet. I have had body tremors for six months and have been trying the Keto diet for three weeks. I have noticed a definite reduction in the intensity of tremors. I also have been taking supplements at the same time as I'm trying to avoid Ldopa as prescribed by my doctor. I take Omega 3 fish oil 1250mg, 100mg of B6, 400mg Mucuna Pruriens X 3, 1000mg L-Tyrosine, 135mg Magnesium, and 500mg X 3 L-Phenylalanine.
The Keto diet understandably has gotten a lot of negative reviews. At first look, it seems counter-intuitive and eliminates many healthy foods. It was developed in the early 1900s when doctors realized that when people with seizures fasted, the seizures stopped. The Keto diet was the result of a doctor figuring out how to replicate the body's response to fasting, so these people could eat. Seems to me this might have help with tremors. Any thoughts?

What is the
Keto diet?
This isn’t the healthiest diet that’s for sure but the results can be enticing. It is a < 20 carbs a day diet that puts your body in Ketosis. This is when your body burns your body fat to supply you with energy instead of Carbs.
Thank thanks for the update
Thanks for the information
Hello @user_ch1535cb1
Here is an article from Mayo Clinic about the Pros and Cons of the Keto diet,

You're taking mucona? Mucona reduces tremors. It worked for me, but it gave me digestive issues. So...it's hard to say if its your diet or the herb unless you did the diet alone.
Wondering how long your digestive issues lasted, and how much Mucuna you were taking? Asking because I have had digestive issues for a couple months since taking mucuna for just a few days. It could be something else, of course
I am trying to decrease my essential tremor so I have been following a toned down version of the keto diet i.e. I have increased fats including saturated fats in my diet and have decreased carbs (but not to the extent recommended for a proper keto diet). I have been doing this for almost a month. I still eat carbs with my two meals a day but only one or two potatoes, for example, or one or two thin slices of bread). I tried the diet on the advice of a friend to see if it helped with my essential tremor and it has. I didn't really expect it to, but my tremor is massively decreased and less frequent. Before this, I could sometimes not get my fork to my mouth. Now that doesn't seem to happen and, despite a lot of stress in my life recently, I am free of ET for long periods. When the shakes come, they are almost unnoticeable. I atopped the keto diet for a day, specifically I stopped taking the teaspoonful of MCT oil that I have been taking each day, as well as reverting to a higher carb diet. I was surprised to note that the shakes returned after a few hours and I felt very tired. Is anyone else here trying to decrease (hesitate to write 'cure') their essential tremor? Only side effects so far have been - a big rise in total cholesterol reported by recent blood test, and just lately constipation - although these effects could be due to something else of course. Greetings to all.
