I've had 3 Prolia shots and now have pain in both legs since April

Posted by jcking1938 @jcking1938, Nov 6 11:14am

Since I've been getting the Prolia shots (3x now), I've had pain in both legs and my right hip. I think it's from the Prolia shots but none of my doctors or family think so. Just wondering how long the pain lasts.
I just had my third round of shots in my back with steroids. Hope this one will help. Anyone else having problems with pain from Prolia?

If you look at my previous posts on prolia and actonel you will see what I suffered from both. At least I got off Prolia after 6 months- I had terrible pain in the front areas of my legs and a huge cracking noise in the joint. Of course the Drs. don't say much about this. I had a severe esophagus issue with actonel- could not swallow and to this day after being off it for a year I still have issues. I will not be taking anything else- just taking supplements - exercising weight bearing and being careful not to fall.

I took three Prolia shots and the last one caused me so much pain throughout my whole body. I woke crying in mornings wondering how I was going to get up. It was agony. I thought I’ll buy a new mattress and see if that helps. Went to mattress store one day and literally I was in so much pain, I asked the sales rep to help me get in my car to drive home. I have severe scoliosis and spondylitis plus fiber myalgia. That Prolia about killed me. My doctor put me on Re-Clast last April and I was sick first two weeks with headaches. I was fine until June and started getting headaches. They think it was my blood pressure so have low dose med and it helped. My foot swelled up by baby toe in July and podiatrist said bone needed shaved which I refused. Your feet have more bones than anywhere in your body. Idk these drugs are very scary. I have pain my legs, but I had before Prolia. I don’t want these drugs anymore. I’m thinking just exercise and healthy diet with Citrate Calcium and D supplements. Good luck.

I've had at least six Perlia injections and have not had any pain. Are you getting injections in your leg or are you getting injections in your arm? I get them in my arm.

How long did you have the pain in your legs after you got off the Prolia? None of the doctors agree with the side effects of Prolia. I saw the side effects on Google and read a lot of people having the side effects on here. I'm off of it for now, but the shots in my back didn't help and my pain management doctor doesn't think its from the Prolia. Hopefully, it won't last much longer. I got my last shot in August.

@gravity3 I had them done last year- I don't have the report in front of me- but the worst area was the hip area neck- about -2.3 some- 1.6 and yours? My spine actually got better and I was off everything.

@babby I feel the same way. My hair was falling out with prolia too. Actonel was worse- ruined my esophagus.

jcking1938,
muscle and joint pain are the most common side effects from Prolia.
I suspect you are not seeing an endocrinologist because they should know that one of the adverse events from Prolia is femur fracture. Leg pain should always be reported to the prescribing physician. The prescribing physician isn't supposed to tell you that the pain is unrelated. They are supposed to look at you seriously and say that Prolia can cause atypical femur fractures. And that you may need an MRI and you might need to stop taking the medication. https://www.mdpi.com/2077-0383/13/10/2785
One of our fellow sufferers had the fractures in both thighs.
Why does everyone think it isn't the medication. Was pain in this area common to you in the past.
