I've been referred? I think?

I've been referred for a Possible surgery to my Right shoulder as I've previously had 2 Total Right Reverse shoulder Arthroscopies an one device repair now I've broken my Humerus Bone on same! I'm sure as Mayo has requested my past medical records an some new X-rays an also an CT SCAN of my shoulder that I'll be receiving a appointment soon but I'm not altogether sure on transportation as I don't drive an I'm about 6-7 Hours away from Rochester! 🤦🏃🤕

Mayo will review the scans and medical records and decide how to proceed.

First thing to do is set up a account on Mayo Portal. That is best way to keep track of appointments once scheduled.

Did you receive information about the portal?

Where are you traveling from? Is there any transportation options available ?

@przngard Hello Wade. I found a website where you can search between locations to find transportation. There is Amtrak service from Chicago across Wisconsin, and then a bus route from Winona, Minnesota to Mayo. It looks like you can take Amtrak from Macomb, IL east to Chicago. That's about twice as long as if you could just drive from Beardstown because you are already pretty far west, and Mayo Rochester is to the north of where you are.

Here is the link. You can do your own search there. Patients also fly into the Rochester airport.

You may also want to contact the free Concierge service at Mayo to see if they can advise other travel options.

If you can fly there there is an airport shuttle to your hotel. Most all of the hotels have a shuttle to all the Mayo buildings. We stayed here for 2 weeks https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/rstrn-residence-inn-rochester-mayo-clinic-area-south/overview/
The staff were so kind and there was free breakfast every morning

I know Southern Illinois is a bit of a trek to get to Chicago, but if you can get to O’Hare, United is one of the few airlines that has direct flights from Chicago to Rochester, and as someone mentioned, many of the hotels have airport shuttles and shuttles to the hospital. (I traveled from the Chicago suburbs.)
