IV infusion schedule how important is administering time

Posted by farfalina @farfalina, 10 hours ago

I just started my home infusion for pulmonary mycobacterium Abscessus Thursday, May 14. My initial schedule to infuse was 11:30 a.m. but I find it very inconvenient for my daily life. Is it ok to back it up to 8am and be done with it for the day? I do it once a day. I am on IV Amikacin (3 x a week) and tigecycline (1 x a day). Anyone else change there schedule.

@farfalina Generally it is ok to "retime" medications, but should be discussed with your doc. They may recommend you adjust the timing in steps to avoid having too much medication in your system with the change in tigecycline. If the doc is uncertain, the dispensing pharmacist may be able to help.
