Itch and pain from peripheral Neuropathy

Posted by palekeren @palekeren, 3 days ago

I have Peripheral Neuropathy from damage to the nerves in my spine and also have an irritating itch most of the day on the trunk of my body. I’m still in the experimenting stage. I spoke to my doctor about it but she was not much help unfortunately so I’ve been reading and watching YouTube for how to handle it. I’ve started taking Vit B12, Vit D and soon to start ALA. would be interested if anyone has experienced this itching as I’m starting to feel a bit like a monkey.

I have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy and occasionally have areas on my arms, back , chest and leg areas that drive me nuts scratching. It's not consistent with mine but I have some relief with moisturizing my skin in areas where it's really dry. A lot of times I've used Dermeleve anti itch cream for some relief.

U R on the right track with vitamin B12
It makes blood cells and nerves insulation. I did read the hat alcohol stops absorbtion . I take METHYLCOBALAMIN. That's B12. Keep up B12

@johnbishop
I have neuropathy, osteoarthritis
and hemochromatosis . I’m 82 years old. I take B Plus vitamins and get a B 12 shot monthly. I’ve recently noticed an increase in dryness in my skin, face back, scalp, legs, feet. I’ve been taking the vitamins and shot for three years. I think part of it is aging. I’m not certain how old you are…though I believe aging is part of it.

Good luck!

@sas1413 Hi youngster 🙃, I'm 83 and have neuropathy, osteopenia, degenerative disc disease along with arthritis. My skin is dry and thin also and easily bruises. Worst part is being on blood thinner which makes the slightest bump or skin tear bleed. Definitely tough growing old 🙂Just have to keep moving.

@johnbishop Yes we need to move as well as we can! I’m not moving very fast anymore though my husband is 86 and outdoing me everyday! Im thankful for him. Hang in there… 80 seems to be a turning point!
