IT band syndrome after knee replacement
I had both knees replaces last month. Right on 6/4 and left on 6/13. The right knee has done great. But the left has had issues. This week both PT and the surgeon's nurse said I have IT band syndrome. PT put a strip of K-tape down the side of my leg and suggests ice massage to the area. And the nurse showed me a stretching exercise to do. I am wondering if others have had this problem and how it was handled and how long it took to get better. The pain behind my knee prevents me from raising my leg while walking.

Hi gypsy just wanted to reach out see how you are doing ? I know how frustrating it can be going through having tkr and not getting the results you anticipated…. I know dr are hesitant to do mri after new knee replacement they say films are not clear….I hope you get some answers meanwhile keep moving as much as possible…. It gets better
I have been dealing with IT band on my left knee replacement 12/1.
Last week my doctor put me on prednisone and changed my pain reliever, and added a nerve pain reliever. It has helped.
I am doing stretches, ice, elevation, and rest. I also have been getting cupping and massages and going to have dry needling tomorrow.
From what I have learned in the past 5 weeks of dealing with this is that it takes time. I know your pain, hang in there, don’t let your Dr ignore you, and do what your PT says!
Hi there @joanb1229
I don't think you told me where "your area" happens to be. Please let me know the city and area within the city if it is a very populous one.
Thanks.....
