Is there any med that relieves mild but constant pain?
Tomorrow I am scheduled to drive sixty miles into the city to visit the pain management chap that the ortho Doctors I saw four years ago use. At that time, they offered me 3 or 4 opioid type medicines to help with the peroneal nerve pain, none of which did any good. I understand the one I am to see tomorrow does not prescribe opioids at all. I mention that only as information, as I Never used any of the previously supplied drugs for more than two or three days.
My Question is, Are new and effective drugs available today that were not available 4 years ago? Is it worth it to make the drive?

@proteusx I read your post and I’m curious why the company hasn’t been able to enroll sufficient numbers of patients since 2022 especially with the vast numbers of suffers with DPN? I have PN but not diabetes.
You might also consider trying buprenorphine in a patch. I change my patch every 7 days and my dose is 20mcg releases 24/7 relief. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4675640/
I’ve been on opioids but quit. Nerve Control 911 I found a couple years ago. It’s not a pharmaceutical drug but a combination of many natural seeds, roots, etc. My pain is gone. 2 capsules a day! It’s like magic. My pain is in my feet and was incredibly bad. I have diabetic neuropathy of the feet. As long as I take Nerve Control 911 I’m pain free! It’s expensive, but shop around on the internet and find it a few dollars cheaper. It’s worth a try. It really works for me!!
So I was told that due to ckd 3b they could not Rx ldn.
What opioids were you on, and how did you quit? Did you have to go into a hospital to keep you from getting withdrawal effects?
I was on oxycodone. I’m thinking it was like 75 mg. a day. (It was over a year ago so I don’t remember exactly) I started weaning myself off 1 five mg. Pill a week. I started in May and finished on August 14, a memorable day. Had no withdrawal effects. Got rid of my constant itchy rash and constipation, too! No hospitalization, except for shoulder replacement surgery in June. That was the reason I started weaning myself off the oxycodone. I told my doctor what I was doing and he was okay with my method.
Thanks, Alice. My husband is on opioids. It used to help with back pain, but now neither the oxycodone or fentanyl patch helps with his back pain or the terrible neuropathy he has developed in his feet. It sounds like your method is a smart way to wean yourself off them:-)
Hang up tried tramadol?
My pain management doc prescribed it and 3 others because I'd tell him each didn't do anything for me.
Tramadol for pain. Not for me but 500mg tabs of Tylenol works pretty good for my pain.
