Is there any med that relieves mild but constant pain?

Posted by cekkk @cekkk, Sep 19 10:58am

Tomorrow I am scheduled to drive sixty miles into the city to visit the pain management chap that the ortho Doctors I saw four years ago use. At that time, they offered me 3 or 4 opioid type medicines to help with the peroneal nerve pain, none of which did any good. I understand the one I am to see tomorrow does not prescribe opioids at all. I mention that only as information, as I Never used any of the previously supplied drugs for more than two or three days.

My Question is, Are new and effective drugs available today that were not available 4 years ago? Is it worth it to make the drive?

Please tell me more about "No Show" socks. Now that the weather is getting more wintery here, and my sandals will be put away for a while, I would like to have new socks to go with my new shoes. Thanks.

You asked for it.I take no responsibility for repercussions you may have after having viewed this photograph.

On Amazon I was able to find them by simply searching "socks." Price was something like $22 for a 3-pack. I was not able to copy a link for the page.

The prescription drug Qutenza (a high potency capsaicin patch that must be applied by a physician) is an effective non-opiod pain reducing alternative. It has the added benefit of actually regenerating some nerves. Investigate it and see if your doctor will prescribe it. It is particularly effective for issues involving the feet. And this is nothing like the over the counter capsaicin preparations which have little effect. Also, there is finally a non-opiod drug in the pipeline that many believe will be approved by the FDA next year that has shown efficacy in clinical trials, both for pain management and the elusive disease modifying effect.

Do you know what they are calling this drug that is nearing FDA approval? I’m kind of new to this forum so can you tell me what is meant by elusive disease modifying effect? Just knowing that the future may hold an effective treatment is a huge boost to my spirits.

I have severe neuropathy for year now and only prescribed Gabapentin 600mg 2 x day. I was as high as 2400mg day but could not function so Ill take pain over functioning in life....

JUST STAY ON TOP OF PAIN. If you miss does and pain is higher, sometimes its hard to get back to feeling better so stay on top of doses

I also take 50mg duloxetine - helps from neuropathy getting worse

No. You’ll be offered Gabapentin and. An SSRI. Nothing helps this disease. I’ve researched all of these boards and all of the forums. There are ZERO answers. The only drug even in play is in phase 3 delay awaiting funding. That drug Pirazipine I think by Winsantor May be ready in another 5 years but I doubt it

I agree with your post 100 percent, there is no cure for this dreadful condition, mine started after 2 failed angioplasty attempts try and clear a popliteal artery blockage, I think forcing the wire thru my artery, dislodged plaque, thus damaging the peroneal and tibial nerve structure. Wish I would of just started with the Plavix and Xalerto, instead of the surgery, My vascular Dr ,just ignores the question

I think I saw information on this before but if so I can't find it now. I need help finding someone that will prescribe LDN for me. My primary care provider was unfamiliar with it but did look into it and my pain doctor does not work with it. So where do I go, at least where do I begin?

I got my LDN prescription from an Osteopathic physician. They tend to be more into trying alternatives than your average PCP.

I went to a DO a few years ago. She's all into edgy stuff. That's why I left her. Worth a shot. Thx.

I signed on with AgelessRx Wednesday and expect to be or not to be prescribed ldn Monday. The company appears to have good reviews but I believe the majority of their business has to do with anti-aging, or what I think of as cosmetic products. I would appreciate hearing from any one's experiences with this company. I have a feeling that continuing to receive the drug from them is more expensive Then necessary.
