Is the jugular approach for ablation safe?

Posted by keem4 @keem4, 6 hours ago

I underwent an ablation for afib and flutter through the femoral vein. But it couldn’t be completed as the IVC showed an 8cm thrombus and the collaterals were kinky. The option now is to perform it through the jugular vein. Is this safe. Is there anyone that did it this way?

Yes, it is safe, perhaps not as easy or as safe as through the groin. But, they wouldn't do it if it were dangerous or not expected to help you to live more symptom-free and to live longer. This is the next best approach.
