Is it safe to drink coffee on a cruise ship?
I will be going on a Cruise and was wondering if anyone thought it was safe to drink the coffee. I do not know how hot the coffee pot water will get and they will not let me bring my own water to make it in the restaurant area. I will have my LifeStraw pitcher and Spring Water in the room but they don't allow coffee pots in the room.

I’ll leave the official answer to the experts but super excited for you that you are going on a cruise and hopefully a really good sign that you are feeling well enough to travel! Not the same as having a hot cup with breakfast but one option would be to bring something like Starbucks via to make an iced coffee with your filtered water. Depending on the cruise line and ship if they have a specialty coffee shop you could go get an espresso as I would expect that would use boiling water and you could confirm with the barista as it’s being made. Bon Voyage, happy sailing.
Since coffee is usually consumed in the morning, by the time you lie down in bed the coffee will be well digested. The risk I believe is due to reflux/gerd, which will be diminished if you refrain from drinking 3/4 hours before sleep.
Separate but related question -- when traveling I've noticed many domestic hotels have their water temperature turned up quite high, almost as high as I have at home 130F+. I'd be curious to know if the cruise line does this as well. The hospitality industry wants to avoid things like Legionnaires which is spread by inhaling tiny water droplets.
That surely makes sense and I really appreciate your view on this as well.
I drink coffee in a local coffee shop, Cova coffee, I like very much. I have not had any problems so far. Eating and drinking should be different from breathing into the lungs, which I believe. We don't know and can't never measure how much we breath in the air everyday. I was thinking about you, after 6 months treatment, did you get rid of aspergillus?
Enjoy the trip!

Yes, I am free from Aspergillus at this time. The cavity closed partially but not completely since I still have Abscessus but the colony count is very low so my doctor at NJH is watching it for the time being since I am feeling good. I really don't want to be on any more medication for awhile if I can help it. How are you doing these days? I hope all is well.
Wow, congratulations! I am SO HAPPY for you. I have not been doing well, I got 3 infections from staph in 6 months. Right now I am on azithromycin to prevent flare-ups. It is a lesser evil choice, because taking azithromycin alone will cause antibiotic resistance. And my pulmonologist and ID doctor agreed that bringing my lung function back up to avoid further infections is more important. I saw a different pulmonologist yesterday, his professional focus is on bronchiectasis, hopefully from now I can be on the right path.
A cruise trip sounds exciting, enjoy it. We have to live our normal life fully. That is what I am trying to do everyday.

I don't actually go until March next year but I like to be proactive in my lung safety. I am sorry to hear you have not been well but hopefully things will take a turn for the better. I will certainly keep you in my prayers.
